Youth Clubs

Club Programming: Since 1999, over 500 youth (approximately half in Abkhazia and half in Georgia) have participated in a multi-faceted, year-round program.  Through Youth Leadership Groups, situated in four towns in Georgia and six towns in Abkhazia, the youth participate in computer, English language and conflict resolution classes conducted by local schoolteachers and staff from local non-governmental organizations. The classes provide additional content for youth whose education has been severely disrupted or halted as a result of the conflict. The English language training is essential for providing a critical common thread for youth that do not necessarily share a common or mutually accepted language and provides the means to expose the youth to the larger world. Several of the groups are also administering special funds to help families in need or sponsoring community cultural events.
