How to Become a Training Provider

Thank you for your interest in becoming a training provider for CIT's programs.  Training events can take place in the United States, the trainee's host country, or in third countries.  The training objectives of AED's clients cover a wide range of objectives from economic development to democracy building to social sector reform. If you are interested in becoming a training provider you should:

1.  Download and complete the Questionnaire for Training Providers and send it, along with any promotional brochures, catalogs, newsletters, or other information about institutional capacity, to the following address:

Attn: Mike McCarthy
Center
for International Training
Academy
for Educational Development
1825 Connecticut Avenue, NW Suite 800
Washington, DC  20009

2. If you visit Washington, DC, or one of the cities where AED has an overseas field office, please arrange a meeting with the program specialists to more formally present your organization and its capabilities.

AED maintains a database of organizations interested in conducting training, and keeps promotional materials and catalogs on file. When AED procures a training event that matches your qualifications, you may be contacted for inclusion in the competitive bidding process, in which you receive a Request for Proposal Design (RfPD).  Alternatively, you can check this website periodically for open bidding opportunities.  AED reviews proposals and makes recommendations to the United States Agency for International Development based on technical capabilities, program design and cost.

What AED looks for in a Training Provider

The following are important considerations for providing training and are considered in the evaluation of proposals:

·      Technical capacity in the sector/topic of the training program;

  • Experience in the participants' home country and/or familiarity with the conditions and emerging issues in their countries - this includes the experience of both the principal trainers and the presenters at site visits;
  • Past relationship with the participants nominated for the training program;
  • Access to a pool of technical experts who will be used to conduct various components of the training program,
  • Familiarity with participants' culture;
  • Demonstrated interest in the complicated transitions participants' countries are currently undergoing; and
  • Minority Institutions - AED aims to support the work of Minority Institutions (MIs) by contracting them individually or as part of a group of affiliated training institutions. For additional information, please visit the Proposal Development page.
