Egypt Integrated English Language Program II (IELP-II)

The Egypt Integrated English Language Program II (IELP-II) aimed to improve English-language training in the public and private sectors throughout Egypt by working in collaboration with various stakeholders and in partnership with several U.S. universities. IELP-II was a continuation of IELP-I, also managed by AED and its partners. IELP-II was much like its predecessor project, with additional inputs such as models of best teaching practices, instructional videos, Internet access, computer-based instruction and materials based on the latest research, and increased ability to teach young children and help adults who are seeking better jobs or opportunities.

The primary areas of focus were In-Service and Pre-Service Teacher Training, Test Reform, and English for Occupational Purposes (EOP).

Key features of this program included:

·         Building on established systems;

·         Collaborating with key Egyptian institutions; and

·         Using Egyptian education experts and a geographical focus tied to key areas of economic development and sustainability.

For more information, please refer to the program website at www.ielp2.org.
