OneSTEP

(Service for Training, Educational Exchanges, and Professional Programs)

We know cost effective logistical support services and event planning. Since 1993, OneSTEP has provided high quality in-country, third country, and US-based logistical support and implemented training programs on a fee-for-service basis to USAID and non-USAID funded contractors, government agencies, and private organizations worldwide.

We provide direct access to over 45 years of AED expertise of implementing international training programs, professional exchanges, leadership development and academic partnerships. Our expertise includes civil society, training, education, energy, environment, health, HIV/AIDS, leadership development, and youth.

OneSTEP offers a variety of services at competitive and cost-effective rates to meet our client’s needs. For USAID-funded activities, we offer J-Visa assistance (DS-2019 form preparation), medical clearance, and health and accident insurance coverage (HAC) enrollment. We also provide logistical support (travel, lodging, transportation, and conference facilitation), as well as training program and study tour design and implementation.

We have assisted over 252,550 participant trainees through more than 7,210 training programs in about 20 different fields of study including agriculture, education, energy, environment, customs, finance, health, HIV/AIDS, law, small business development, and telecommunications.

We have worked with participant trainees and consultants from more than 26 different countries in Africa, Asia, Central America, Europe and Eurasia, the Middle East, and South America; as well as more than 160 clients including:

  1. Academy for Educational Development (AED)
  2. American International Health Alliance  (AIHA)
  3. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)
  4. International Resources and Exchange Board (IREX)
  5. US Agency for International Development (USAID)
  6. US embassies abroad
  7. US Energy Association (USEA)

Past Performance

OneSTEP provides a wide-range of options to plan and to implement programs to meet your objectives and budget. From designing professional study tours for or in a particular region, country or sector to providing logistical support, OneSTEP can play a major role.

A few examples of past support the OneSTEP team provided for training activities abroad and in the US include:

·   Arranged international travel, lodging, simultaneous interpretation and medical insurance for two Kyrgyz Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism officials to participate in the WTO Trade Policy Review in Geneva, Switzerland (2006)

·   Arranged and provided regional logistical support and J-Visa assistance for Ministry officials from West Bank/Gaza (2006)

·   Arranged travel, visas, interpreters, lodging, and site visits in Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for consultants from England and the US to assess HIV/AIDS surveillance systems and methodology in Central Asia (2005)

Agreements

The service agreements allow clients to contract with OneSTEP to handle participant processing services for participant trainees participating in a US-based or third country training program with ease. The data and forms requested by OneSTEP are required by USAID and the Visa Compliance System (VCS).

GSA/MOBIS Schedule

OneSTEP services can be quickly and easily accessed by Federal Government agencies under the GSA/MOBIS schedule. Please reference the Academy for Educational Development (AED) FSS/GSA Contract No. GS-00F-0007M, Schedule No. 00-CORP.

IMPORTANT NOTiceS:

  1. It is a requirement of State Department and Homeland Security that USAID provides notification to State Department of a participant's arrival in the US, and within three days of the participant's return to their home country. Failure to do this puts USAID's J-1 visa visitor program at risk. In order to ensure there is no delay, AED needs to be informed within one day. Failure to do this will result in AED notifying USAID of your delayed notification. Also, the State Department will levy a fee of $198 against for all delayed notifications and AED will pass that to your organization as a pass-through cost on our invoice.

In order to meet the notification requirement, please notify Ms. Chasta Piatakovas at cpiatakovas@aed.org of the participant’s arrival in the United States within one business day of their arrival in the US. Also, please inform us, either to cpiatakovas@aed.org or to the appropriate field office within one business day of the participant's departure from the US to return home.

  1. The US Government introduced new procedures for obtaining J-1 visas. The new procedures will substantially increase the time to 12 weeks to process the visas.

For more information, please send an e-mail to OneSTEP@aed.org or call (202) 884-8842.
