Projects

Current projects implemented by the AED Center for International Training include:

Egypt Education Reform Project (ERP): CIT is working with AED’s Global Education Center in the implementation of the participant training component by identifying training providers. The program is an integrated set of activities intended to establish a foundation of policy and institutional capacity for sustainable and replicable reform in seven target governorates and institutional partners.

Energy Sector Technical Advisory & Assistance Services (Energy II): AED is a subcontractor to PA Government Services on the Energy Sector Technical Advisory and Assistance Services IQC. Under this IQC, technical assistance is being provided in the areas of energy sector reform, utility management, energy efficiency, renewable energy, and technology transfer.

FIELD-Support: Financial Integration, Economic Leveraging, Broad-Based Dissemination promotes economic growth and improves the financial security of poor households and businesses by strengthening financial and business support systems and their ability to access those systems.

Focus on Results: Enhancing Capacity across Sectors in Transition Countries (FORECAST): FORECAST provides a unique opportunity to use a comprehensive human and institutional capacity development (HICD) approach to assess performance gaps and provide targeted interventions to address the gaps within workgroups or institutions that are coping with changing economic, political and social systems. As part of the HICD approach, AED provides participant training services, including training program development and management, monitoring and evaluation, and all associated participant processing services such as visas, medicals, English testing, and pre-departure orientations.

Local Economic Development: AED's comprehensive services to support local economic development include needs assessments, custom and off-the-shelf training interventions, technical assistance, monitoring and evaluation, strategic planning, and policy consultations.

Moldova Agribusiness Development: The goal of the USAID funded Agribusiness Development Program in Moldova is to work with Moldovan private farmers and agribusinesses to increase rural incomes and employment by improving the international competitiveness, and thereby the trade performance, of Moldova’s agricultural sector.  AED is a subcontractor to CNFA on this activity, providing training support services to the project.

Orientation Visits, Conferences, Workshops, Training and Outreach Activities: In March 2006, AED’s Center for International Training in the Social Change Group were awarded with this Indefinite Quantity Contract (IQC) by the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA). AED is one of approximately 30 contractors holding this IQC to provide support for Orientation Visits, Conferences, Workshops, Training and Outreach Activities.

People, Energy & Development (PED): The primary objective of this IQC is to facilitate more effective and efficient knowledge management in the energy sector and to establish linkages between energy services and the strategic objectives of USAID’s three Pillar Bureaus: Economic Growth, Agriculture, and Trade; Democracy, Conflict, and Humanitarian Assistance; and Global Health.

One STEP: Provides direct access to AED services for Training, Educational Exchanges, and Professional Programs developed over decades of successful project implementation.

Strategic Technical Assistance for Results with Training (START): Provides training and related services throughout the world to USAID’s Economic Growth, Agriculture, and Trade Bureau.  Services include needs assessment, training planning, design, implementation, evaluation, and follow-on.  Trainings are conducted in the US, in-country, and in third countries.  Under START, CIT currently has activities in 20 countries.

Support for Economic Growth and Institutional Reform (SEGIR): SEGIR is one of USAID’s assistance instruments, created to support economic growth in developing countries. SEGIR currently encompasses 28 consortia representing 250 contractors specializing in five technical areas: General Business, Trade, and Investment (GBTI); Commercial, Legal and Institutional Reform (LIR); Macroeconomic Policy; Privatization; and Financial Sector.

Youth and Community Action Program (YCAP): The focus of this USAID funded project is to increase civic activism among youth and adults in communities around Armenia.  This will be accomplished through mobilization of youth to form youth clubs that will use local resources to identify and address community issues, and through mobilization of adults to both support the youth and to mobilize themselves as well.    AED partners with Junior Achievement of Armenia on this activity.
