Who We Are • What We Do
Caribbean Regional
Internship Scholarship Program
English-speaking Caribbean
The Caribbean Intern-Scholarship
Program (CRISP) is funded by USAID/Jamaica under the Strategic Technical
Assistance for Results with Training (START) Indefinite Quantity
contract. Aurora Associates
International is subcontracted by AED to implement the majority of activities
under that task order. CRISP is designed to help the Eastern Caribbean islands better
prepare for the effects of globalization (i.e., World Trade Organization and
Free Trade Agreements) by increasing employment and diversification in select
non-traditional economic activities.
The overall objective is to promote Caribbean leadership in the global
economy through scholarships, internships, seminars and other relevant
development interventions through a consortium of government, university and
private sector partners to enhance the economic competitiveness of the
region. AED and Aurora Associates are
working closely with the Center for Management Development, University of
West Indies to implement this activity which provides in-country, third
country and U.S.-based training to develop the human capacity of the
English-speaking Caribbean region. A
project office in Barbados has been established.
During the first
year, 80 individuals (60 short term; 15 medium term and 5 long-term) are expected
to be trained in targeted areas that include information technology and
telecommunications; trade capacity building; knowledge based services;
agri-business and financial markets.
The duration of the initial phase of CRISP is March 2003 to September
2004.
